Access To Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS) This component of the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Program is designed to provide GPs with support from Psychologists in treating people with a mental health disorder. The service is particularly suitable for low-income earners. Our Psychologists can provide the most appropriate Focused Psychological Strategy included under the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care Initiative. There is a small co-payment required by the patient. These time limited, evidence based strategies include:
As of November 2006, all referrals to this Program require a GP Mental Health Care Plan (Item 2710). GPs are no longer required to have completed Level 1 training or to be registered with Medicare Australia to refer under this Program. |

Alison Dougall Phone: 0407 778 661 Suburb: Doubleview Alison Dougall (Counselling Psychologist) is a highly skilled and experienced practitioner. She works with adults and older adolescents who would like to address issues which include, but are not limited to: depression, the spectrum of anxiety disorders, trauma, sexual abuse, eating disorders, stress, grief and loss. In addition to her years of experience and academic qualifications in psychology, Alison has had previous careers in Nursing and Occupational Health and Safety. From this diversity of professional backgrounds, Alison has developed particular interest in working with clients with somatic complaints, weight management difficulties, and eating disorders. Following assessment of client needs, Alison works from therapeutic models including: Interpersonal Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Solution-Focused therapy. |

The approaches used by Adriana are tailored to the individual. Therapy is delivered in a caring and supportive environment, and treatment is designed for the client to benefit in the short and the long term. Adriana has extensive experience working with adults experiencing a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, pain issues, post natal depression, grief and loss issues and adjustment difficulties. She has worked in multi disciplinary settings within community organisations and in the private sector for the past 15 years. Adriana is trained in a variety of therapies including cognitive behavioural and interpersonal therapy, schema focused therapy and brief therapy. |

Ashley Frew Phone: 0407 849 903 Suburb: Yokine Email: ashley.frew@gmail.com Ashley Frew is a Clinical Psychologist (Registrar) is a highly trained, enthusiastic private practitioner who treats a range of older adolescent and adult issues including depression, anxiety-based disorders, stress, poor self-esteem, anger, grief, drug/alcohol addictions, eating disorders and physical/sexual abuse. Having completed a PhD examining the interactive effects between negative mood and physical functioning, Ashley Frew has a special interest in the psychological management of chronic pain (incl. migraines & tension headaches). In addition to her work with individuals, Dr Ashley Frew has enjoyed much success when working with couples on a wide range of relationship issues. Furthermore, Ashley Frew is experienced in the design and implementation of behaviour management programs, with the focus being on parenting skills. Her therapeutic approach includes cognitive and/or behavioural treatment/s, interpersonal psychotherapy, and other solutions-focused models – depending on the needs of the client. |

Kris Giesen Phone: 0434 672 212 Suburb: Stirling Email: kris.psych@gmail.com Kris Giesen is a Clinical Psychologist (Registrar) who has been involved in the Focused Psychological Interventions Program as a therapist since 2005. She has also worked in multidisciplinary hospital and community-based settings, and has considerable experience in conducting case management, assessments, case formulation, and treatment for a wide range of disorders and conditions. She is trained in cognitive-behavioural and interpersonal therapies, and other time-limited approaches, such as brief and solution-focussed. She has a particular interest in the thought processes that predispose a person to mood a disorder, and is currently completing a PhD in this area. She also consults on a part-time basis to the WA Police Force, providing personality profiles and investigation strategies to assist serious crime investigations. |

Alana Maley-Berg & Jessica Adderley (Child Psychologists) Phone: 0414 723 562 Suburb: Tuart Hill Email: contextual@iinet.net.au Alana Maley-Berg and Jessica Adderley are both registered Psychologists who have been working with children for a combined total of 20 years, with expertise in the area of autism and disability. The PNMML’s Focused Psychological Interventions Program has had a predominantly adult focus. With the welcomed addition of Alana and Jessica in the FPIP consultancy team, the program can expand its focus to children who are in need of psychology services within the Perth North Metro Medicare Local community. The same referral forms and process is required for referring children into the program including the child having a GP Mental Health Care Plan. The psychology services provided by Alana and Jessica are focused on children generally from 18 months up, with a range of disabilities, learning and behaviour problems. |

Amongst other things she has worked as a Specialist Clinical Psychologist in a First Episode Psychosis Unit. She also has a special interest in working with people with serious medical problems who are experiencing emotional difficulties as a consequence. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Motivational Interviewing and is committed to the use of evidence based therapies. |
