Immunisation Program

The Immunisation Program aim is to improve immunisation rates for children 0 - 7 years of age. The main strategies to achieve this include supporting GPs and Practice Staff with immunisation service delivery and providing community education on the importance of immunisation.

The Immunisation Advisory Committee has the role of providing advice, liaison and feedback to the Immunisation Program Manager. The committee comprises of two GPs, two Practice Nurses and the Program Manager. Committee meetings are held on a quarterly basis to discuss resources and education activities.

Immunisation GPII - Section 46E Agreement

A main reason as to why practices do not receive their GPII 20A Practice Reports is due to GPs not signing a Practice Incentives Program and General Practice Immunisation Incentive Application Form.  Every GP must sign the agreement and this must be kept up-to-date.  If a GP joins a practice but hasn't signed the agreement, the practice will automatically stop receiving their GPII 20A Practice Report. A reminder is not sent to the practice.

For further information contact the GPII Enquiry Line 1800 246 101 or visit the Medicare Australia Website.

Immunise Australia Program

The Immunise Australia Program aims to increase national immunisation rates by funding free vaccination programs, administering the Australian Childhood Immunisation register and communicating information about immunisation to the general public and health professionals. Immunisation Certification Courses - Recommenced
General Practice Nurses – Enrolled & Registered

The WA Health Department has recommenced the certification course for Nurses.    There are a number of important issues pertaining to lodgement of registration forms and allocation of supervisors and assessors.  Forms must now be lodged directly to WA GP Network’s Course Co-coordinator Lorelle Wadley.  Only Nurses who hold an assessors/supervisors certification may be allocated to a student nurse.

For further information please contact Immunisation Program Manager Jacqui Paul on 9208 9529 or email jacquip@pnml.com.auClick here for a copy of the registration form, FAQ’s and course schedules.

Grubsy Immunisation Promotional Campaign

It is my pleasure to introduce you to the Perth North Metro Medicare Local’s Immunisation Promotional Campaign, featuring our Immunisation mascot ‘Grubsy’.

The Birthday Card Reminder & Incentive Strategy was designed to be implemented through general practice. Practices send the birthday card to parents of 1 and 4 year old children as a reminder that their child is due for their relevant Immunisations. When the child presents at the practice with their birthday postcard they are given their Immunisations and then receive a special birthday gift which includes the storybook ‘Grubsy’s Brave Day, An Immunisation Adventure’ and a Grubsy ‘I’ve Been Brave & Immunised’ sticker.

If your Practice would like to implement this recall/reminder strategy or you would like to replenish your Grubsy resources, please contact the Immunisation Program Manager or download the Immunisation - Grubsy Resources Request Form from the Resources Centre on our website. Perth North Metro Medicare Local will then make arrangements to have your resources delivered.

PNMML is Accredited by The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards until March 2014.
